This week has been a bit of a stressful week in many ways, but that's not what I want to talk about today.
We've been trying every 6months or so to go through our inventory and look into cards which aren't selling. This time we've made a list, and we are doing a 10% sale on it. The collection of cards is here https://magicatwillis.co.nz/collections/cas and the discount code is 10CAS.
But while you browse through the sale, if you could reflect on why you aren't interested in cards in this collection in general, that would help us a lot moving forward. It's important for us to focus our resources on getting cards you guys want.
We do have some ideas. Most of you seem to come to us for Commander, some for Standard, some for modern, and a very small amount for Legacy. Given that some of these cards are straight up banned or just not good in commander. Some of them feel outdated to us in terms of power level. Some of them feel like they might be too expensive compared to how good they are.
With a new set coming out every 1-2months, and each set having 30 odd legends in them, it feels as though it might be a case where any old decks get put on hold, in favour of building around new Commanders?
Some of the modern cards we have are for niche decks (IE MIll), when probably we should look at having more cards useful in multiple decks, and if possible cards that are also good in Commander?
Some of these cards are more expensive versions that you can find much cheaper. Which seems to jump into the category of foils. Sometimes someone wants it, but in general you guys prefer the cheapest version?
Also sometimes it seems that a card that isn't moving is because those who already want the cards, already own them.
Just some thoughts David and I have been having, but also there could be a lot more reasons, and if you can let us know, then it really helps us to stock up more on cards you guys are interested in.
On a side note. I know a lot of you use the wishlist feature on the website. I want you to know, that none of the information you put into that comes to us. It's a feature that was created for you, and you alone. If you want us to know what you are looking for, please email us instead. We may not be able to find everything, but it helps us have a better idea of what to aim for when we are trading/spending.
