There was a big (think GP or Nats) sized magic event in Auckland this past weekend. I saw that the event was named Commander Auckland and assumed that's basically what it would be. Did anyone else do this? Turned out it was more like a GP with big Competitive Modern and Pioner events. Had I realized that sooner I 1000% would have gone. We need more events like this in NZ so supporting them when they come is a good way of telling the organizers that we would like more please.
If anyone reading this went I'd love to hear how the event as a whole was like. And if this reaches any of the people trying to market the event, it's my suggestion to name it something that tells us it's a lot more than just commander.
I'm away for about a month and a half as of Sunday, you'll be left as usual in David's very capable hands. Most of September will be in Westport/Charleston, towards the end of September I hope to be visiting family in Invercargill, then I'll be over Queenstown way to jam some games and do some trading with those very lovely folks <3
Then I'm back in CHCH for literally one week before the big Dunedin Modern/Legacy happening on October 12th/13th. Saturday is an RCQ for Modern, and the Sunday is our usual Legacy with cash prize for first. The cash amount will change depending on numbers, but will top out at $200 if we reach at least 24.
I hope to see a bunch of you that weekend, I'm really looking forward to it.
If you don't have some of the expensive cards for legacy (like duals) there are a number of people around who have been picking them up and collecting them for the express purpose of being able to lend to players who can't afford them so we have more people to play Legacy with. Legacy is fun and it's more fun with more people <3. If you don't know who these people are, ask around or ask me and hopefully you can get pointed in the right direction.
Lastly those bundle (fatpack) boxes full of cards from Invercargill trip that I mentioned 2 weeks ago, there's still over half of them left (somewhere in the 8-10 range so 4-5K cards) Most of it is bulk at this stage as we picked out the juicier cards and boxes to go in first, but there's still probably a few things we missed and the occasional other card that's worth something :)
- I'll either see you all in 2 weeks or after my trip, haven't quite decided yet. Also might make a post 4 weeks from now if in 2 weeks I'm still dealing with pain from having 2-3 teeth ripped out of my mouth. But in the meantime enjoy yourselves <3
