Dominaria United is out, and our store is full of new cards. The buying of 3 collector boxes has been interesting. It solves 2 of our goals, but also creates a new issue and I'm not sure what to do about it right now.
So the goals it solves are goals we've been trying to solve. It puts more eye catching cards into the store on release, and it is a lot better for value for us that opening draft/set booster boxes ever was.
The problem is that paying extra for foils or fancy frames isn't for you then there's not much left in Collector boxes that is. There's some normal frame, non-foil Dominaria United Commander cards I guess...?
Which leaves us with the problem of, if cards don't sell at all doing it this way, what should we be doing? As of writing this, the number of cards from DMU and DMC that we've sold are fewer than I can count on one hand. I'll have a look in a week or 2 and see where things are at, but it's certainly a fascinating data point.
Card prices have looked a little high to me as well, but firstly these are coming down, and secondly they are not that far off a lot of other stores, both local and overseas. Some cards a little higher, some cards a little lower. So I wonder if that worldwide price increase on boxes is leading to higher overall prices. Again, that's a wait and see sort of game.
So yeah, not entirely sure what to do, customer feedback would be great at a time like this :)
