Your Bi-Weekly Update with Willis 19-09-2022

First things first. I got this playmat this week. It's wonderful, I love it, and it shows exactly why I will never own a cat. However. I learned that I'm apparently the first NZer ever to directly order a custom playmat from the Cardboard Crack webcomic. I know shipping out here can be expensive sometimes, but for me to be the first ever? WTF New Zealand, we need to do better than that.

Work has been overwhelmed with buylists over the past weekend. Some cards you will see in the store already, and some will be coming in over time. We removed the limit that states that Latest Restocks have to be more than $1 to show up in that collection. This is mostly because we want pauper players to be able to see new stock that comes in, but it does mean that you will have to dig further into the collection to find all our latest restocks at any given time.

This week I want to talk about a standard deck I've been playing to moderate success. I'm super tilted against The Meathook Massacre being both a wrath and a blood artist, but outside of that it's got a positive winrate against basically everything. And perhaps when the meta moves away from 71% monoblack decks I'll go back to grinding with it again :).

Deck
4 Experimental Synthesizer (NEO) 138
20 Mountain (HBG) 304
2 Strangle (SNC) 125
4 Voltage Surge (NEO) 171
2 Unlicensed Hearse (SNC) 246
4 Fable of the Mirror-Breaker (NEO) 141
4 Defiler of Instinct (DMU) 119
3 Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance (NEO) 276
4 Reinforced Ronin (NEO) 158
4 Voldaren Epicure (VOW) 182
4 Containment Construct (NEO) 243
4 Patchwork Automaton (NEO) 254
1 Dragonspark Reactor (NEO) 137

Sideboard
2 Chandra, Dressed to Kill (VOW) 149
2 Light 'Em Up (SNC) 113
1 Dragonspark Reactor (NEO) 137
1 Rending Flame (VOW) 175
1 Unlicensed Hearse (SNC) 246
2 Jaya, Fiery Negotiator (DMU) 133
1 The Elder Dragon War (DMU) 121
2 Burn Down the House (MID) 131
2 Rending Flame (VOW) 175
1 Unlicensed Hearse (SNC) 246

So this is a deck I brewed myself and have been working on. By default it goes under slow opponents but can play a long game with all the card draw and cycling.

After game 1 though you can transform into a midrange/control deck if you want to grind a long midrange game, or even go over the top of an aggro opponent. Side in removal and walkers and side out the super synergy artifact cards that make for bad topdecks late in the game.

There's enough graveyard shenanigans, and Unlicensed Hearse does enough in non-graveyard matchups that I'm pretty happy having it in the maindeck. It can also kill after a wrath by popping your Reinforced Ronin back into play and crewing it :D.

When I'm not playing a Meathook Massacre this deck is a ton of fun to play, and if you decide to play with it or work on it, I'd love to hear what you think. My personal winrate with the deck is that I win twice as much as I lose.

Oh! and I almost forgot. We have Afterpay as a payment method on the store now and that's really exciting!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, that's me for this week, see you next week :)
