So it's the morning of May 17th 2003. I was a kid of just 14 years, sitting down in the Christchurch Bridge club with my exciting new Scourge Booster Packs as Chris is going over the sets mechanics. There are 2 things I really remember about this morning. The first comes later, as we are opening our cards one of the players pulls Chris aside to show him that he opened this pretty pointless 1/1 with Trample. The second, and the important one for our story is that when explaining Storm Chris says "Oh, and Mind's Desire is Restricted in Type 1 (now called Vintage)."
A couple of weeks later, 6 days after Scourge actually releases the internet tells me, I don't remember this moment quite as accurately, Mind's Desire gets banned in Type 1.5 (now called Legacy).
To see Mind's Desire get unbanned in Legacy a little over 20 years later is certainly exciting, but also ,leaves me very aware just how long I've been playing this game for.
There's a new entry in my ongoing awful luck with Alpha cards. That Braingeyser that I had the last time I posted I picked up at MP condition. We sent it to an overseas store and it turns out 20+ year old water damage that no longer causes any issue in the card being opaque sleeve playable still leaves big overseas websites grading it as below HP. So this card got sent back to us, however despite it being below HP, the value of the card was put at the stores NM buy price? Which of course customs now wants me to pay GST on resulting in a work in progress that if all falls through will require us to pay another $700 to get this card, that we own, back into the country.
Lastly I know sometimes our emails end up in your spam boxes as a result of having 3 workers all contacting you through personal email addresses. We are working on solving that and getting everyone an @magicatwillis.co.nz email address.
So yeah, I've been having a pretty mixed week :(.
