What a weird week....
Any of you go to Brisbane for the Modern Spotlight Series? It sounded super sweet, but at the beginning of the year we decided we needed to put all spare money into business, and travelling overseas to play some sweet modern (though let's be honest, what I want to play in most is Gavin Verhey's Unknown Event) just wasn't in the budget. It seems Gavin brought his Kiwi design to the Unknown Event with a Yeah Nah // Nah Yeah split card <3. (I just found out this was made for Las Vegas earlier in the year)
That Rofellos Deck I shared last time? I made Mythic with it on Arena. The first time for me hitting mythic in a season. I usually don't enjoy the grind, but with Rofellos it was a lot of fun <3. Could do a deeper dive into the matchups and overall format guide sometime if that is something of interest?
A lot of random foils picked up this week, especially good if you like either really beat-up foils or non-beat-up Double Feature Foils. The damaged folder got a smattering of new cards added to it :P.
I was finally convinced by the sheet piling roadworks outside my house to go try out Pauper. It was a lot of fun, and I now have my own deck for it. Also made me realise what a complete shambles the Pauper collection was. Cards auto-tagged by what I can only presume is AI; cards like Command Tower and Arcane Signet made it into that collection. Anyways, I've cleared out the non-Pauper staples from the collection and have been slowly tagging in Pauper staples already in the store. I've been going through our in-stock commons, checking for cards that should be tagged. At the time of writing this, I'm up to the start of H, having gone through 96 pages of commons.
Lastly Conventions. We will be at the Hobby Con Card Show on October 10th, taking place at the Netball Sports Centre in Christchurch, and, also in Christchurch, the Card Market in Christchurch on November 28th at the Airforce Museum.
There's a hobby con in Dunedin on the 25th of October, which we are going back and forth on at the moment. We've been spending all our money on buy lists lately and still have a pile of debt. Given we were in Dunedin just a month ago, we are currently unconvinced that it will be worth our money/time. But there's a lot of magic players in Dunedin that didn't make that event a month ago, so maybe I'm just very, very wrong :)
