Hi all, just a few quick updates today,
Firstly tracked shipped has changed with NZ Post. If you get tracked shipping regularly, please keep this in mind. Tracked shipping now updates information when we drop your order in to the post office and when it arrives at yours and at NO OTHER POINT during it's trip. So if your order hasn't arrived, but you aren't seeing any detail, that will be why.
Secondly, I've been trying to do a bit more for my mental health. Mostly I've just been very stressed, you guys keep me very busy which is great, but if you've been following the updates I make from time to time on what's going on in my life, you'll understand why I might be feeling overloaded at times. One thing that happened this week is my dad having a stroke (Don't worry, he's fine, he recovered basically as fast as possible and was out of the hospital in 3 days, but it's still a massive shock.)
Anyways, what I'm trying to do as best I can is as follows.
Bike for 15-20mins every day before starting any work.
Leaving the entire sorting of orders to David. If you've placed a pick up in person order you will no longer be able to pick it up until after the next time David has dug up your cards (He does this Mon-Wed-Fri between 12-3pm.)
To the best of my ability, take Sunday off.
Being on call mentally 24/7 is exhausting, basically even if I don't reply, if I'm looking and thinking about anything work related then I'm not relaxing. Hopefully these changes will help to some degree, and if not, I might have to put a couple more in place.
The Third thing I want to talk about today is an upcoming trip for me at the end of this month. With my parents moving to the west coast, my dad having had this stroke, and with work having built up some extra stress recently I've decided to join them for about 2 and a half weeks from the start of November, and then I will have half a week in Wellington for a bit of work and the Jazz Festival after that.
During this time, David will be looking after the store, so please email him at davidharragan@gmail.com. He will be looking at only allowing pickup on the days he is working, and while he is willing to organize some pickup later on the days he is working, he would vastly prefer it to be in the hours he is working. A reminder those hours are (Mon-Wed-Fri, 12-3pm). If these times are difficult for you, I strongly recommend getting your orders shipped instead of picking them up during this time.
I will also be with my parents for 3 weeks over Christmas/New Years, so the same things will apply then.
Finally today, let's talk some Magic. There has been/continues to be the Grand Finals this weekend (basically the equivalent of personal worlds). It's a 32 player event, but on day 1, about 70% of the decks in Standard are Omnath Decks, and 33% of the decks in Historic are Omnath Decks. I know wizards doesn't like to ban the big card of a new set, but I really fail to see how they can do anything except ban Omnath with Mondays B&R announcement. In each format there are multiple Omnath Shells so banning cards around it just doesn't work.
